Where nature meets luxury in this unique Glamping Dome experience tucked away in the central most desirable part of the North Carolina Appalachian Mountains overlooking the famous Watauga River. Relax in your heated geodesic dome and enjoy the 3.5 acres of property plus endless amenities within walking distance. Otter dome features a premium quality king size bed, 1 rollaway bed, a wood burning stove for heat and cooktop, breakfast table, fire-pit chiminea for roasting s’mores on the deck (1 bundle of wood provided to guests) then fall asleep under a clear skylight in this trendy heated dome while listening to the sounds of the rushing Watauga River outside. Glampfather is located in the heart of the North Carolina mountains right next door to the popular Grandfather Winery/Vineyard and just minutes from downtown Boone, Banner Elk, Valle Crucis, Grandfather Mountain, Seven Devils and Linville. Guests can park their car and not have to worry about ever leaving during the stay. Glampfather backs up to the Foscoe/Grandfather Community Center, which is open to the public and has endless amenities such as a playground, basketball court, open grassy field, swing set, tree house, 10 acre wetland bird watching trail connected to our property and every Saturday morning (from Spring to Fall) the community center hosts a country breakfast on the lawn, which is open to the public for $10/plate and proceeds are donated for charity. If guests need anything during their stay such as water, firewood, ice, charcoal etc., then the Grandfather Campground Outpost is also just a football fields’ walk away.

This is a fisherman’s paradise with the domes overlooking the Watauga River with stocked trout fly fishing or walk a yard over to the Grandfather Trout Farm where you can use free fishing rods to catch and cook your own huge trout from stocked ponds while the kids go gem mining.

We feel that “glamping” is the best way to discover the inner nature in yourself by disconnecting from the hustle and bustle of life. No Wifi, no electricity, no plumbing…BUT you will have lighting, a private toilet, a cooler and a private heated shower.
